Dannmar D-10 Two Post 10,000 lb Lift Review: Heavy-Duty Simplicity Done Right

Dannmar started in 2003 and has been part of the BendPak group since 2017, which is the most useful thing to know about the brand. It means the D-10 is not an anonymous container lift: there are manuals, a parts department and a phone number attached to it, and the same organization supports BendPak and MaxJax.

The lift itself is deliberately plain. 10,000 lb capacity, clear floor overhead layout, symmetric swing arms, a 2.5HP single phase 220V power unit, 71 in of rise, 115 in between the columns and 1,650 lb of shipping weight, for around $3,799. There is no single point lock release, no dual-synchro equalization and no ALI listing. What there is instead is thick steel and a 3-year warranty that covers the whole lift rather than just the frame.

That is a coherent product. It competes on the parts that wear out and the people who answer the phone, not on the spec sheet.

The 10,000 lb rating handles a three-quarter-ton crew cab with a loaded bed, a full-size van and a one-ton unloaded, which is more truck than most home garages will ever put on a lift. 71 in of rise puts a car roof near head height and a truck frame at a comfortable working level.

The arms are symmetric, so the vehicle sits centered between the columns with roughly half its weight on each side. That is the more stable arrangement and the easier one to spot, and it is why symmetric lifts are still standard in body shops. The cost is door clearance: with the vehicle up, the front doors hit the columns and interior work becomes awkward.

There is no setting that changes this. Buyers who spend time inside the car with it raised should pay the $500 premium for the asymmetric Challenger E10 or drop to a cheaper asymmetric lift, because a symmetric lift bought by mistake is an annoyance that lasts as long as the lift does.

Overall height is 145 in, or 12 ft 1 in, and with the overhead shut-off bar above the beam the practical minimum is about 12 ft 3 in. A 6 ft tall truck raised 71 in would exceed that, so the real constraint for truck owners is not the lift but the vehicle: at full rise a tall pickup wants closer to 12 ft 8 in. Most owners simply stop the carriage short, which is fine, but it means the last few inches of rise are theoretical in a low garage.

Anchoring is into a minimum 4 in slab of cured 3,000 psi concrete. Clear floor lifts join only at the top, so an uneven slab leaves the beam out of square and the cables refusing to hold equal tension. Shim within the limit in the manual, and grind or repour if the floor is worse than that.

At 1,650 lb the columns need an engine hoist and two people, and the beam needs a third pair of hands and a tall ladder.

Most warranties in this price band split coverage: several years on the structure, one year on everything that moves. Dannmar covers the whole lift for 3 years, which includes the pump, cylinders, seals, hoses, motor and the electrical box. Those are the parts that fail, and covering them for 3 years from a company with a stocked parts counter is worth more than an extra decade of frame coverage.

The D-10 is CE certified, which is a manufacturer self-declaration against European directives, not an independent test. It is not in the ALI directory and it does not carry an ETL mark. For a private garage that is a footnote. For a shop, a side business, or anyone whose insurer asks, it is disqualifying, and the money is better spent on the Challenger E10 or the Triumph NT-9.

Nobody should read CE on a lift as equivalent to ALI. They are different documents with different amounts of verification behind them.

The Challenger E10 at around $4,299 is $500 more and answers the two complaints about the D-10 at once: asymmetric arms and the ALI Gold Label, plus 73 in of rise and 3 years of hydraulic coverage. It wants 12 ft 5 in of ceiling. For anyone who can clear that and stretch the budget, it is the better lift.

The Atlas 10,000 lb clear floor at around $3,899 is nearly the same lift on paper, symmetric, CE only, 3HP instead of 2.5HP, 72 in of rise, backed by Greg Smith Equipment's parts network. It costs $100 more and covers hydraulics for 2 years rather than 3.

The Triumph NT-9 at around $3,299 is $500 less and carries an ALI and ETL listing, but it is a 9,000 lb lift, which rules out a loaded three-quarter-ton.

The D-10 is the pick when 10,000 lb and full warranty coverage both matter and certification does not.

Buy the D-10 for a private garage with 12 ft 3 in of ceiling, 220V, a sound slab and a truck in the fleet, where the owner values a parts department over a spec sheet. The 3-year full warranty is the strongest part of the offer, and the BendPak group behind it makes that warranty collectable.

Skip it if door access with the vehicle raised is part of the work. Skip it if a certification is needed for insurance, a permit or customer vehicles. Skip it if the ceiling is short, since a 9,000 lb lift like the Atlas 9KOHX clears at 11 ft 2 in and costs $1,400 less.

And think hard before choosing it over the Challenger E10. $500 is real money, but it buys asymmetric arms, an independently evaluated design and two more inches of rise, and those are the three things a D-10 owner is most likely to wish they had.
