Editorial Policy

Last updated: April 19, 2026

This page explains how editorial decisions are made at Car Lift For Garage — what we publish, who writes it, how we rank products, and how we handle corrections. It sits alongside our Affiliate Disclosure and How We Test pages.

Who writes our content

Every article is produced by, or reviewed by, a named author with relevant automotive credentials. See our team. AI-generated text is not used as primary editorial content; if we ever use AI as a drafting tool, a named human editor rewrites, fact-checks, and signs the final piece.

How we select products

  1. Residential fit. Product must be practical for a home garage (1- to 4-car) or a small independent shop. Commercial-only lifts are excluded.
  2. Safety certification. Preference is given to lifts carrying ALI/ETL certification against ANSI/ALI ALCTV. ETL-only is acceptable for lower-capacity and portable models. Lifts with no recognized certification are either excluded or clearly flagged.
  3. Verifiable specs. We cross-reference manufacturer data sheets, certification listings, and owner feedback before publishing a spec table.
  4. Availability. Products must be currently available through Amazon.com or a major U.S. retailer. Discontinued models are marked "legacy" or removed.

How we rank products

Rankings use a weighted score across six categories. Affiliate commission rate is not a ranking factor.

  • Safety & certification — 25%
  • Capacity-to-price ratio — 20%
  • Build quality & warranty — 20%
  • Ease of installation — 15%
  • Real-world owner feedback (verified purchases, trade forums) — 10%
  • Manufacturer support & parts availability — 10%

When two products score within 2 points, we break ties in favor of the model with the longer warranty and broader certification.

Freshness & updates

Category pages, buying guides, and reviews carry a visible "Last updated" date. We review every ranking at least every six months and immediately when:

  • Amazon pricing changes by more than 15% for a featured product
  • A certification is added, revoked, or amended
  • A recall is issued
  • A featured product is discontinued or deeply restocked

Corrections policy

If you spot a factual error — a wrong spec, an outdated price, a misattributed quote, or a safety claim that misreads a standard — email us at corrections@carliftforgarage.com. Verified corrections are made within 72 hours. Material corrections carry a dated correction note at the top of the affected page.
