What sets it apart from the other imports at that price is not the steel, which is comparable, but the paper trail. It has been on Amazon for years, it has far more owner reviews than any competing 2-post, and APlusLift backs it with a 3-year parts-and-labor warranty when most rivals offer one year on parts.

That review volume matters because it turns a gamble into a known quantity. Owner reviews on Amazon are consistent about the same handful of things: the columns arrive straight and undamaged more often than not, the hydraulics hold a car overnight without drifting, the powder coat is fine but not thick, and the manual assumes the buyer has installed a lift before. None of that is remarkable. All of it is exactly what a buyer wants to know before spending $2,199.

The rated capacity is 9,000 lb, which covers every sedan, crossover and half-ton pickup on the road, plus most three-quarter-ton trucks unloaded. Rise is 69 in, so the underside of a lifted sedan sits at about eye level for a 6 ft mechanic and a truck frame sits a little higher. Overall width is 9 ft outside to outside, which is narrower than a BendPak XPR-10AS and one reason the HW-9KOH fits garages the BendPak does not.

Overall height is 11 ft 8 in and APlusLift's stated minimum ceiling is 11 ft 6 in. There is no wiggle room in that number: the overhead beam carries the equalization cables and the shut-off bar, and a garage door track or an opener motor in the wrong place will collide with it. Anyone with a 10 ft garage should stop here and look at the floor-plate HW-10KBP, which APlusLift sells for about $2,099 and which fits under 11 ft.

The lift needs 220V single phase and APlusLift specifies a minimum 4 in concrete slab, which is the same requirement every 2-post carries. The columns weigh a few hundred pounds each; two people with an engine hoist or a third helper can stand them up, and the anchor bolts are included. Plan on a full weekend. The most common installation complaint in owner reviews is not the hardware but the documentation: the manual is short, the drawings are small, and the cable routing and equalization adjustment steps are the ones people get wrong.

APlusLift's customer service is a genuine strength here, and owner reviews mention it often, usually because a part arrived bent or a question about cable tension needed answering. The company responds, ships replacements and does not argue about the warranty. That is worth remembering when comparing against a no-name 2-post with the same specs and a seller who disappears after delivery.

The HW-9KOH has automatic mechanical safety locks in both columns, a single-cable equalization system, and arm locks that engage when the arms take load. It is CE certified. That is a European conformity mark that the manufacturer applies itself; it is not the same as ALI certification, which requires third-party testing to the ANSI/ALI standard and a listing in the ALI directory. The HW-9KOH is not in that directory.

For a home garage this distinction is mostly about reassurance and, for some buyers, about what an insurer will accept. For a commercial shop it is disqualifying: most inspectors and carriers want the ALI label. It is the better buy for a low garage or for anyone who wants door clearance; the HW-9KOH is better for anyone who wants a clear floor and does not need the extra capacity. The Triumph NTO-9A is a comparable 9,000 lb clear-floor lift at around $2,695 with dual-point locks and automatic arm restraints, but a 1-year warranty and fewer owner reviews.

A QuickJack 5000TL is a different tool entirely, a portable frame lift with about 21 in of rise that needs no ceiling and no anchoring, for a similar price. Owners who want to change oil and rotate tires under a car are often happier with it; owners who want to stand under a vehicle need the 2-post. We would not spend the extra money on the NTO-9A over the HW-9KOH unless the automatic arm restraints matter to the buyer.

Buy the HW-9KOH if the garage has 11 ft 6 in of ceiling, 220V or a plan to add it, a 4 in slab, and a fleet of ordinary passenger vehicles and light trucks. Buy it if the budget is around $2,200 and the buyer wants the option with the longest warranty and the largest body of owner experience behind it. Skip it for commercial use where ALI certification is needed, and look at the BendPak XPR-10AS instead. Skip it if the ceiling is short and buy the HW-10KBP. Skip it if the heaviest vehicle is a loaded one-ton; 9,000 lb is a real limit, not a suggestion. And go in expecting to spend an afternoon reading forum threads on cable adjustment, because the manual will not carry the install on its own.
